Below are activities to help introduce children to native plants of Ohio.

Go Native Ohio: A Wildflower Card Game

These special cards were designed by members of The Little Garden Club of Columbus as a way to help children learn about native plants. Photographs are by Ohio professional wildlife photographer and naturalist, Jim McCormac. The Go Native Ohio, A Wildflower Card Game measure about 3 by 5 inches, with 13 different flower images and 4 of each flower (52 cards).

Each card has a picture of an Ohio native wildflower, with the common name and botanical name. They do NOT have traditional suit markings but are suitable for games of “Fish” or other concentration games with children,and adults can play with them to brush up on common and botanical nomenclature.

Order directly from The Little Garden Club of Columbus club members by downloading and completing the order from, and mailing it along with a check made out to The Little Garden Club of Columbus for $20 per deck. Ohio Wildflower Coloring Pages

Ohio’s Spring Wildflower Activity Book was created by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR), Division of Natural Areas and Preserves. The booklet contains 10 wildflower illustrations designed by Ryan Moss and includes information about the plant, and a word scramble for the plant’s common name.
